BMW Service Tester

All Model Series

Situation: 

The diagnosis and information system DIS was introduced in 1994. The entire scope of
diagnosis programs of the BMW Service Tester were adopted in the DIS. The BMW
Service Tester diskettes last appeared at the end of 1993 (V13.0) and have covered the
vehicles of all series up to and including model year 1994.

Incorrect indications may now be obtained when using the BMW Service Tester on vehicles
as of model year 1995. For example, no provision is made in all DME and DDE diagnosis
programs for the new defect code for the electronic immobiliser. If a defect code is stored,
this results in following indication in the fault overview: "Undefined defect code stored".

Procedure:

The BMW Service Tester must no longer be used for diagnosis on vehicles on all series as
of model year 1995. The DIS (as of CD V2.0) or the MoDiC (as of diskette V14.0) must be
used instead.
