7 Series E32 750i (M70) SAL
Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Remove complete front left or right spring strut
Clamp special tool 31 3 341 at guide (1) in vice.
Warning:
Prior to each use, check that special tools ( 31 3 141 and
31 3 355 ) are working properly.
Do not use special tools which are damaged.
Do not make any modifications to special tools. Keep special
tools clean and free of grease!
Use suitable spring retainers only.
The spring retainers are solely intended for tensioning and
relieving the tension on springs.
Do not tension or release special tool
31 3 341
with an impact screwdriver!
On both spring retainers 31 3 355 , shorten protective supports
31 3 365 .
Measurement A: approx. 5-8 mm
Protective supports 31 3 365 must be flush with metal lug (1).
This modification is necessary as otherwise the spring retainers
cannot engage in the spring.
Note:
Both spring retainers can continue to be used for the previously
approved vehicles. The shortened protective support does not
impair either the function or the safety of the spring retainers!
