Removing and installing/replacing
transmission fluid cooler (M57)
Caution!
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must
protect the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an
alternator malfunction.
Caution!
Danger of scalding!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.
Note:
After carrying out this work, check/top up fluid level in
automatic transmission,
refer to 00 11 500.
Remove and install radiator,
refer to 17 11 000.
Catch and dispose of escaping ATF.
Press cooler lines in direction of transmission fluid cooler. Press
black locking ring (1) towards rear and keep pressed. Detach
cooler lines from transmission fluid cooler.
Open lock (2) of transmission fluid cooler.
Installation:
On insertion into the lock (2), the transmission fluid cooler
must snap audibly into place.
