Replacing two rubber mounts for rear axle
carrier

Remove wheels.

Loosen the exhaust system at the rear suspension.

Vehicle with engine M52 - completely remove the exhaust
system,

refer to 18 00 020.

Remove heat shield.

Unfasten right bracket for parking brake Bowden cable
from the body.

Support rear axle with special tools 00 2 030/ 040 and 33 4 220.

Loosen the screws on the left and right and lower the rear axle
approx. 40 ... 45 mm.

Installation:

Threaded pins (1) on rear detent plate must be fitted along
longitudinal axis of vehicle.Tightening Torque,

refer to Technical Data 33 33 3AZ.

Pull out rubber mount using special tools 33 4 140/ 151/ 154/ 155.

Fit special tool 33 4 140 to recesses in rubber mount. Use a hot
air blower with outlet temperature of max. 600 

°

C, heat bearing

bush for approx. 2 minutes (equivalent to approx. 80

°

 C on

bearing bush) and remove the rubber mount.
