Removing and installing timing case cover,
top left (M62 VANOS from 9/98)
Remove left cylinder head cover. These tasks are described in the
work step Removing and installing/sealing both cylinder head
covers,
refer to 11 12 004.
Remove fan clutch with impeller,
refer to 11 52 020.
Remove solenoid valve of camshaft adjustment unit, left,
refer to 11 36 585.
Disconnect plug connection to check valve.
Detach secondary-air line on timing case cover, top left and right.
Detach secondary-air line on bracket and remove.
Installation:
Clean sealing faces on cylinder head, replace sealing ring on
secondary-air line and apply a thin coat of grease as anti-
friction agent.
Unfasten timing case cover.
Remove rubber sealing strip.
Installation:
Clean groove for rubber profile seal and sealing surfaces of
remains of seal.
