Replacing coolant-temperature sensor (M62)
Note:
After completing work, fill and vent cooling system and
check for leaks,
refer to 17 00 039.
Coolant,
refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids MG17.
Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit. Switch off
ignition.
Cars with idle-speed control valves only:
Unfasten plug connection (1).
Installation:
Top up coolant.
Unscrew and remove double temperature sensor (1) for Digital
Motor Electronics (DME) and remove coolant indicator.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 13 62 2AZ.
Cars without idle-speed control valves only:
Sensor is fitted on water pipe at front.
Disconnect vacuum lines (1).
Detach plug from sensor (2).
Unscrew sensor (2).
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 12 62 4AZ.
Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
