Bleeding power steering unit
Filling and inspection specification:
1.
Topping up when engine stationary:
Oil for new fill, refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids
Top up oil container to (A) approx. 25 mm below edge.
Oil quantity,
refer to Technical Data

Topping up and bleeding when engine running.
2.1 Topping up:
When the engine is switched on, top up remaining quantity of
oil, pouring evenly.
2.2 Bleeding:
Turn steering wheel twice each as far as left and right lock.
3.
Oil level check with engine stationary:
Check oil level (mark on container lid). If necessary, top up
oil.
With oil level regulation:
Oil level must lie approx. 25 mm below upper edge of
container. If necessary, top up with oil.
With level regulation and laden vehicle:
Raise rear axle until wheels are suspended free. After 2
mins., the accumulators for level regulation are discharged.
Oil level must be 20 ... 25 mm below top edge of container. If
necessary, top up with oil.
