7 Series E38 740iL (M62) SAL
Remove inside section of wheel arch.
Drill holes for plug welding.
Clean connection points on spare wheel arch - inner section.
Coat connection points on spare wheel arch - inner section and on
vehicle with zinc dust paint.
Adjust wheel arch - inner section to fit.
Caution!
Fit straightening brackets to wheel arch.
Weld up connection points.
Grind down welded surfaces.
Seal connection points.
Fit spare outer section to wheel arch - separating point on C pillar
- mark out inner section.
Caution!
Take account of material allowance for offset!
Separate spare part at connection points.
Note:
If possible, manufacture reinforcement plate from metal scrap
from spare part.
Manufacture reinforcement plate for side member cover and
adjust to fit.
Reinforcement plate width = approx. 60 mm
Drill holes for plug welding the reinforcement plate in the side
member cover.
Clean connection point in side member cover and reinforcement
plate.
Coat reinforcement plate and connection point in side member
cover with zinc dust paint.
Insert reinforcement plate approx. 30 mm into cover for side
member and weld up.
