Windscreen replacement

Situation:
Analyses have been carried out both in the factory and within the dealer organisation as to
the high warranty costs caused by stress cracking of the windscreen.
Research within the dealer organisation has shown that windscreen replacements are not
always carried out in accordance with the instructions in the workshop manual.
Effect:
A windscreen which has not been installed in the manner prescribed in the workshop
manual is liable to crack.

Action:
Within the factory, modifications have been introduced into the bodyshell and into the
assembly procedures.
The workshop manual has been revised to incorporate the changed windscreen installation
procedure.
Windscreen replacement will be addressed as part of the bodywork training.
Procedure:
If replacing a windscreen, the instructions in the valid workshop manual
(CD version) must be adhered to.
In particular, the instructions concerning the retaining strap for locating the windscreen, the
assembly frame and the spacer must be observed.
