Deformation of leather upholstery on seat back

E65

Complaint:

Deformation of leather upholstery on seat back, caused by seat back width adjust
mechanism when set to "maximum width".

Cause:

Upholstered section of seat back tears. This causes the slide in the seat back width adjust
mechanism to jut out, resulting in the above fault condition.

Affected vehicles:

E65 
Manufacturing period: Start of series production until February 2002.

Remedy:

In case of complaint, replace the upholstered section of the front seat back.

Important!

In addition, new clamps must be attached to the mounting of the seat cover at the
seat back width adjust mechanism.

Note:

Since March 2002, fleece-reinforced upholstered sections are being fitted in series
production. 

Procedure:

Replace upholstered section of front seat back. Please refer to repair instructions 
RA 52 14 420
