Coolant escaping from water pump
E65 / N62
Complaint:
Coolant escaping from connection "heating return pipe" to "water pump (thermostat
housing)".
Cause:
In isolated cases, water pumps have been installed on which the groove for the O-ring
(connection to heating return pipe) did not conform to specifications.

E65 / N62
Manufacturing period: From start of series production until 5 November 2001
Procedure:
In case of customer complaint:
Check the cooling system for coolant leakage - please refer to
repair instructions for cooling system on N62, job item 17 00 009
Replace water pump - please refer to
repair instructions for N62 engine, job item 11 51 000
Note:
Simply replacing the O-ring will not resolve the problem.
