7 Series E66 730Li (M54) SAL
Prepare special tool 24 4 161 (1) with shaped piece (2)
24 4 164 .
Shaped piece (3) 24 4 163 is not needed.
Insert special tool 24 4 160 into opening of transmission
housing and tensions slightly with screw (1).
Twist in screw (2) and clamp down.
Then tighten down screw (1).
Further tasks:
Remove propeller shaft:

Remove propeller shaft from transmission.
-
Release center bearing.
-
Tie propeller shaft to one side.
If necessary, unlock or lock transmission lock.
Note:
When removing and installing the transmission, support the front
end of the engine at the housing with an installation aid
(e.g. transmission lifter).
Perform following tasks:
•
Unlock and disconnect plug (1) by turning.
•
Insert special tool 24 2 390 in sealing sleeve.
•
Unclip cable from transmission.
These tasks are described in Replacing mechatronics.
