7 Series E66 730Li (M54) SAL
Remove shock absorber with thrust washer, auxiliary damper,
gaiter and spring pad from special tool 31 3 381 .
If necessary, remove thrust washer, auxiliary damper, gaiter and
spring pad from shock absorber.
Assembly:
Check auxiliary damper, gaiter and spring pad for damage,
replace if necessary.
Note:
Make sure spring pad is correctly located on spring plate.
Insert shock absorber in opening of special tool 31 3 381 .
Position coil spring on spring strut and turn until end of spring
contacts stop of spring pad (arrow).
Warning!
Do not compress coil spring to full extent.
Upper coil of coil spring must rest completely in recess of
special tool 31 3 382 !
Tension coil spring.
Attach spring plate with bearing and spring pad to piston rod.
Check support bearing for damage, replace if necessary.
Attach support bearing and joint seat to piston rod.
Replace nut and tighten down (gripping piston rod in so doing).
Tightening torque 31 31 2AZ
