Removing and installing or replacing coolant
thermostat (M57)

Warning!

Danger of scalding!

Only perform these tasks on an engine that has cooled down.

Important

When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must protect
the alternator against contamination.

Cover alternator with suitable materials.

Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator
malfunction.

Caution!

If the charge air hoses are not fitted without grease and dry, this
will result in supercharger failure.

Fit charge air hoses without grease and dry.

Remove and install A/C compressor drive belt,

refer to 11 28 050.

Remove and install alternator drive belt,

refer to 11 28 010.

Drain off and top up coolant,

refer to 17 00 005.
