Removing and Installing Automatic Transmission for X Series E53 X5 30d (M57) OFFRD
Bend propeller shaft downwards at center bearing, remove from
transmission output flange and tie up to one side with a thread or
wire.
Unscrew bolt (1).
Lever out protective cap (2).
Release retaining screws on torque converter with special tool
24 1 110 .
Tightening torque, 24 40 1AZ .
Note:
Continue cranking engine at central bolt in direction of
rotation.
Unscrew and remove special tool 24 2 300 from torque
converter.
M54:
Protect torque converter from slipping out.
Insert special tools 24 4 131 / 24 4 137 into transmission
housing opening.
Clamp torque converter.
