Vibrations in steering wheel at idling speed
E53 / M54
Complaint:
Vibrations in steering wheel when the engine is running at idling speed or when the vehicle
is moving at walking pace.
Cause:
Vibrations from the engine which are transmitted to the steering column.
Affected
vehicles:
From the start of series production up to May 2001
Procedure:
In case of customer complaint, install a vibration absorber.
Remove the lower section of the steering column surround, please refer to Repair
Instructions 32 31 020.
Unscrew bolt (1).
Install vibration absorber (2) on the
steering column.
Install cable holder (3).
Tighten bolt (1) with a torque of 10 Nm.
