Replace gasket (1) between transmission housing and end
cover.

Insert new sealing ring (2) in groove of output shaft.

E46 4WD:

Replace gasket (1) between transmission housing and end
cover.

Attach slip sleeve (2) and install end cover.

Note:

Slip sleeve (2) is an integral part of the repair kit.

Clamp extension (1) in vice with protective vice jaws.

Lever out radial shaft seal (2) using a screwdriver (3) and a
block of wood (4) as a rest.

Drive in radial shaft seal with special tools 23 1 380  and 
00 5 500  until flush.
