X Series E53 X5 3.0i (M54) OFFRD
Version with ride-height sensor:
Disconnect plug connection on ride-height sensor (1).
Remove jointed rod (2) from control arm.
Release nut (1); if necessary, grip at hexagon socket.
Remove screw towards front.
If necessary, remove holder with ride-height sensor.
Remove control arm from front axle support.
Installation:
Tightening torque 31 12 2AZ
.
Replace self-locking nut.
Release nut (2) by only 3 thread turns so that control arm is not
flung away unsupervised when forced off.
Installation:
Keep journal on ball head and bore hole in swivel bearing clean
and free from grease.
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque 31 12 6AZ
.
Note:
Replace special tool 31 2 242 with 31 2 246 .
Press control arm off swivel bearing with special tool 31 2 240 .
Release nut and remove control arm.
