Fitting rear lid lower section
Note:
Gap dimensions E53 serve as basis for fitting work.
Rear lid lower section must be fitted before upper section.
Moving the hinges later on makes unpainted surfaces visible.
Touch these up in the appropriate color.
Do not damage adjoining body parts.
Raise front trim of rear lid lower section.
Loosen screws (1).
Fit rear lid lower section according to gap dimension.
Tighten screws (1) after fitting.
Slacken screws on side lock strikers.
Fitting rear lid lower section
When rear lid lower section is closed, lock strikers must not make
contact with or brush against rear lid locks.
Note:
Rear lid lower section may protrude below rear side wall by
measurement A = 1 mm.
After fitting, tighten screws on lock strikers.
