Removing and installing/replacing double
joint for lower steering spindle
Note:
After installing a new double joint, it is essential to move the power
steering gear to the straight-ahead position. Markings on cap and
on housing must line up.
If the steering wheel is positioned at an angle:
1.
Remove steering wheel
2.
Remove marking on lower section of steering spindle
(abrasive paper)
3.
Attach steering wheel in straight-ahead position
4.
Apply new marking, e.g. centre punch on lower section of
steering spindle, flush with marking on steering wheel
5.
Install steering wheel
6.
Carry out steering angle sensor adjustment
Release clamping screw.
Move steering wheel to straight-ahead position and remove
ignition key.
Detach double joint from power steering gear.
Installation:
If necessary, move power steering gear to straight-ahead position
- markings on cap and housing must match up.
Replace clamping screw.
Tightening torque 32 31 1AZ
.
Release screws and press heating valves to one side.
