Removing and installing/replacing upper
section of oil sump (M62)
Special tools required:
•
00 2 030
•
31 2 220
Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Move engine hood into service position.
•
Front axle carrier lowered.
•
Disconnect negative battery lead.
•
Notes on disconnecting and connecting battery,
•
Remove heater end plate.
•
Remove acoustic cover.
•
Release bellows on throttle. Remove upper section of suction
filter housing with mass air flow sensor.
•
Remove front splash guard.
•
Remove reinforcement plate.
•
Remove left output shaft.
•
Remove left and right swivel bearings.
•
Remove front propeller shaft.
•
Remove bearing block of output shaft on right from oil sump.
•
Remove front differential.
•
Detach steering spindle from steering gear.
•
Remove drive belt from A/C compressor (lay drive belt on
vibration damper to one side).
•
Drain engine oil, replace if necessary.
•
Remove lower oil sump section.
•
Remove oil dipstick guide tube.
