Removing and installing / replacing lower
section of steering spindle
Important!
If the lower section of the steering spindle is separated from
the steering gear/steering spindle middle section, the steering
column switch cluster may be damaged when the steering
wheel is turned.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
M57T2:
•
Remove acoustic cover
N52:
•
Remove gaiter with resonator
N62:
Important!
Pay attention to plug connection on coolant expansion tank
and oil tank.
•
Disconnect vacuum hose for brake booster
•
Remove oil tank from body and place to one side
•
Remove expansion tank from body and place to one side
•
Disconnect plug connection on heater water valve, remove
water valve from body and place to one side
Release clamping screws (1).
Push steering spindle (2) together and remove.
Installation:
Clean thread to remove all remnants of screw securing adhesive.
Replace clamping screws.
Connect steering spindle first to steering gear and then to steering
spindle middle section.
Clamping screw must rest in steering gear groove or steering
spindle middle section.
No kinking permitted!
Tightening torque 32 31 2AZ
