The background lighting is on, the radio can be operated via the station buttons.

This fault was described in SI 65 09 99 (463). If the same complaint should be made despite operating software V12
- or now the current version V14, this is a different software error which is currently being analysed. In such cases, do
not replace any components, and if necessary contact the technical advisor of your subsidiary or importer.

3.2 The screen darkens during a journey and the system reboots

Complaint: 
The on-board monitor intermittently darkens during a journey. After a few seconds, the screen "blossoms" and the
system reboots. The base menu (if the radio was previously switched off) or the audio / audio/on-board computer
display will then appear.

This complaint affects the system "TopNavigation" (Mk2c).

Cause 1: 
An external voltage interruption in the navigation computer (terminal R) during the journey may be responsible.

Cause 2: 
Access violations in software tables during the system operating period.

Action: 
See Procedure

This means that in any case, the current version of the navigation computer operating software must be loaded.

If this action has no effect, check the area of the voltage supply to the navigation computer (navigation system wiring
harness) for broken wires or for chafing (especially in the area of the control unit brackets).

3.3 On-board computer (BC) data missing from the on-board monitor display

Complaint: 
Following a vehicle start in the manually (or automatically) called up "audio and BC display" on the on-board monitor,
the BC data do not appear in their entirety.

In most cases, the values affected are

- 

Range

- 

Ambient temperature

- 

Fuel consumption

These figures can appear during a journey, but not in all cases.

This complaint only affects the system "TopNavigation" (Mk2c).

Cause: 
Unfavourable software time response when calling up BC data from the instrument cluster.

This situation only occurs when the system is started. If (automatically) updated BC data are transferred from the
instrument cluster via the I or K bus during the journey, they will be displayed immediately.

On-board computer (BC) data not updated during a journey

Complaint: 
During a journey, BC data transferred from the instrument cluster are displayed in the display of the radio navigation
system control panel but are not updated. The data are "frozen". After switch-
