Removing and installing A/C compressor belt
tensioner (M57TU)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove and install fan cowl.

Remove A/C compressor drive belt.

Remove front splash guard.

Caution!

The drive belt must be replaced if it is contaminated with
hydraulic fluid.

Mark running direction if reusing drive belts.

Release screws (1).

Release screw on belt tensioner (3) at rear.

Withdraw tensioning roller with lever (2) in direction of arrow.

Remove belt tensioner (3).

Illustrations show E38.

Installation:

Opening on housing of belt tensioner must point downwards.

Align belt tensioner. 

Insert screws but do not tighten down yet. Install tensioning
roller with lever and then tighten down screws.
