Removing and installing/replacing alternator
(S54)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Switch off ignition.
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery.
Disconnect battery negative lead and cover.
Remove alternator drive belt.
Release screw (1).
Lift off protective cap from screw (2) on tensioning roller.
Unfasten screw (2) and lift out together with tension roller.
Installation:
Tightening torque 12 31 3AZ
.
Tilt alternator forwards slightly.
Installation:
Turning lock of tensioning roller must snap into place in groove.
Unscrew nut (1).
Installation:
Tightening torque 12 31 2AZ
.
Disconnect battery positive lead from alternator.
Unlock plug (2) and detach from alternator.
Remove alternator.
