Removing and installing/replacing rear
muffler (S54)

Warning!

Scalding hazard!

Only perform these tasks after exhaust system has cooled
down.

Important!

Support rear muffler on jack.

Note:

Illustrations show and descriptions refer to the left rear muffler.
The procedure is identical for the right filter housing.

Release screw connections between rear and centre mufflers.

Installation:

Check sealing rings, replace if necessary.

Replace self-locking nuts.

Coat thread with copper paste -CRC-, refer to BMW Parts
Service.

Unscrew nuts (1).

Unscrew nuts (2).

Remove rear muffler from below.
