Replacing front left or right door pillar (front
side panel removed)
Read contents of Body, General.
Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific
procedure.
Refer to the description texts of the KSD CD (FRU 41 21 540)
for details of stripping-down and rigging work.
Place vehicle on straightening bench.
Following new body parts are required (refer to EPC):
-
(1) Connecting plate, side frame, left
-
(2) A-pillar, outer left
Note:
New outer A-pillar part does not contain a reinforcing tube.
Open weld joints in areas (1).
Open weld joints in areas (1) to (4).
Installation:
Adjust new part to fit with straightening attachment or universal
mount.
MAG weld area (2).
Adhesive is omitted from area (3). Observe specific procedure and
seal this area with utmost care.
Apply repair welding spots in area (4) to existing welding spots on
new component/car. This is necessary because the adhesive
between the spot flanges acts as an insulator.
