Fault rectification for navigation system operating software "BMW Navigation V22"
E46, E52
with radio navigation (option 606)
E39, E46, E53, E65, E66, E67, E85, R50/R53
with navigation system (option 609)
Complaint:
The following faults can occur intermittently or permanently in the navigation system:
E39, E46, E53, E85, R50/R53 with navigation system (option 609):
•
The navigation computer requires some time to find its location.
•
The navigation computer is reset if the TMC message list is called up and there are
more than 30 TMC messages present.
E39, E46, E53, E85 with navigation system (option 609) and BMW ASSIST (option 612)
•
BMW ASSIST was initialised for the first time in Germany. If you return to Germany
after a journey to another country, and then leave and then re-select the
"BMW ASSIST" menu, the message "BMW ASSIST not available" appears. The
item " BMW ASSIST" is not available in the "Settings" menu.
"BMW ASSIST" can only be selected after switching the ignition off and waiting one
minute.
•
When using navigation software V20.1 to V21.1 with DVD navigation computer
installed and "BMW Info" enabled, the error message "BMW Info network error,
connection not possible" appears when the SIM card is removed, when you log off
from the services and when an emergency call is manually triggered on the on-board
monitor. The error message has no effect on functionality.
•
Since 09/2002, "BMW ASSIST" is intermittently not available despite GSM network
and GPS reception being available.
E39, E46, E53, E65, E66, E67, E85 with navigation system (option 609) and BMW ASSIST
(option 612)
•
When using road maps from 03/2003, the traffic jam icon is shown grey and there is
no "Last exit" warning when you are driving on a motorway and "Traffic info" is active.
E46, E52 with radio navigation (option 606)
•
Since 09/2002, "TP" flashes in the display despite a TP station being found.
•
The TOP 8 in the telephone menu cannot be deleted using the rotary press button.
•
If you are in FM mode while a telephone call is being made, when the call is ended the
system automatically returns to the main menu, where the menu item "Radio" is no
longer available.
These complaints do not constitute a valid reason for exchanging the navigation computer.
For all other vehicles, installing the operating software V22 will not eliminate the fault!

Software error in navigation system operating system.
