Calculate shim thickness:
1.
A - B = C
2.
E - C - end play = shim thickness
3.
If necessary: round distance to an amount divisible by 2. Pay
attention to distance for end play (0.15 ... 0.35 mm) in so
doing.
Example:

10 - 7.5 = 2.5
2.
4 - 2.5 - 0.25 = 1.15
3.

Install shim (example: 1.20 mm).
Note:
Shims are available in 0.2 mm increments from
0.8 to 2.8 mm (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).
