Failure to comply with the following instructions may result
in the vehicle slipping off the lifting platform and critically
injuring other persons.
When supporting components, make sure that
•
the vehicle can no longer be raised or lowered
•
the vehicle does not lift off the locating plates on the
lifting platform
Secure special tool 31 5 220 with wheel bolts to drive flange
and support steering knuckle with workshop jack.
Release screw (1) and remove bracket (2).
Installation:
Recondition thread.
Replace microencapsulated screw.
Tightening torque 31 21 4AZ
.
Spread swivel bearing with special tool 31 2 230 .
Important!
Failure to comply will result in damage to the supporting or
ball joint of the control arm.
Lower steering knuckle until spring strut can be removed.
Installation:
Keep press fit of steering knuckle and spring strut in lower area
clean and free from oil and grease.
Spread steering knuckle with special tool 31 2 230 , align by
means of gap to positioning pins on back of spring strut and raise
as far as it will go.
