Removing and installing/replacing catalytic
exhaust gas converter (S54)
Warning!
Scalding hazard!
These tasks should only be carried out on an exhaust system
that has cooled down.
Important!
Support centre muffler/catalytic exhaust gas converter with
lifter.
Carry out removal operations with assistance of a second
person.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Remove both tension struts.
Remove reinforcement plate.
Catalytic exhaust gas converter and centre muffler are removed
as a single unit.
Unscrew nuts.
Installation:
Replace seals.
Replace self-locking nuts.
Coat thread with copper paste -CRC-, refer to BMW Parts
Service.
Tightening torque 18 40 2AZ
