Century L4-2.2L VIN 4 (1994)
1.
Relieve fuel system pressure (see applicable "Pressure Relief Procedure").
2.
Disconnect Quick-connect fittings in engine compartment (see "Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings").
3.
Remove cap fuel feed and return pipes.
4.
Raise vehicle on hoist.
5.
Disconnect Quick-connect fittings near fuel filter (see "Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings").
6.
Cap fuel sender return pipe and in-line fuel filter outlet as needed to stop fuel leakage.
7.
Disconnect fuel feed and return line attaching hardware and fuel feed and return lines.

Note position of fuel pipes and hardware for installation.
Installation
CAUTION: To Reduce the Risk of Fire and Personal Injury: If nylon fuel lines are nicked, scratched or damaged during installation, they
must be replaced.
1.
Install or connect new fuel feed and return pipes and hardware as noted during removal.
2.
Remove caps from in-line fuel filter outlet and fuel sender return pipe if required.
3.
Install new plastic connector retainers on filter outlet pipe and on fuel sender return pipe.
4.
Connect Quick-connect fittings (see "Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings").
5.
Tighten fuel filler cap.
6.
Connect negative battery cable.
Inspect

Turn ignition switch to "ON" position for two seconds, then turn to "OFF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position, and check for fuel
leaks.
Engine Fuel Pipes
CAUTION: To Reduce the Risk of Fire and Personal Injury: Do Not attempt to repair sections of nylon fuel pipes. If damaged, replace.
NOTICE:

Do not attempt to repair engine fuel feed or return pipes. If damaged, replace.

if nylon fuel feed or return pipes become kinked, and cannot be straightened, they must be replaced.
Removal
1.
Relieve fuel system pressure (see "Pressure Relief Procedure").
2.
Remove Quick-connect fittings (see "Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings").
3.
Remove or disconnect plug fuel feed and return pipes as required.
4.
Remove engine fuel feed and return pipe clip.
Clean all engine fuel pipe connections and surrounding areas before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
5.
Remove engine fuel feed pipe to lower manifold attaching nut.
6.
Remove engine fuel feed pipe retaining nuts.
7.
Remove engine fuel return pipe and O-ring from fuel pressure regulator.

Discard O-ring.
Installation
1.
Lubricate new O-ring with clean engine oil, then install fuel return pipe on fuel pressure regulator. Tighten engine fuel return pipe nut to 30 N-m
(22 lb. ft.).
2.
Lubricate new O-ring with clean engine oil, then position engine fuel feed pipe to lower manifold.
3.
Install engine fuel feed retaining nuts (2) over fuel pipe.

Finger tighten only.
4.
Install engine fuel feed pipe to lower manifold attaching nut. Tighten fuel feed pipe retaining nuts to 10 N-m (89 lb.in.). Engine fuel feed pipe to
lower manifold attaching nut to 30 N-m (22 lb. ft.).
5.
Install engine fuel feed and return pipe clip.
6.
Quick-connect fittings (see "Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings").
7.
Tighten fuel filler cap.
8.
Connect negative battery cable.
Inspect

Turn ignition switch to "0N" position for two seconds, then turn to "OFF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position. and check for fuel
leaks.
