The following Valve Cover and/or Gasket replacement procedure updates and replaces the current procedure found in the 1990-91 Century Service
Manual
-

Section 6A6.

VALVE ROCKER COVER (RIGHT)

Remove or Disconnect

1.

Negative battery cable

Serpentine belt

3.

Power steering belt tensioner brace

4.

Spark plug loom, wires and wire harness, set aside

5.

Power steering pump retaining bolts to mounting bracket, slide pump forward

6.

Retaining nuts and engine lift bracket assembly, set aside

7.

Valve cover retaining bolts, valve cover and gasket

Assembly Tips

Clean the valve cover bolts of all thread locking adhesive. Apply thread lock compound, P/N 12345493 (currently available from GMSPO) or equivalent
to bolt threads.

Install or Connect

1.

New gasket

2.

Valve cover and retaining bolts

Tighten Bolts to 10 N-m (89 lbs.in.)

3.

Engine lift bracket assembly and retaining nuts

Tighten Nuts to 30 N-m (22 lbs.ft.)
