INFLATABLE RESTRAINT SIDE IMPACT MODULE REPLACEMENT - LH

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7.

CAUTION:

Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.

If the air bag has been deployed, replace the seat back trim, the seat back pad, and the seat back frame. Refer to Seat Back Frame Replacement -
Front in Seats.

CAUTION:  Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, replace the following parts:

-

The seat back trim

-

The seat back pad

-

The seat back frame

3. Remove the seat back cover, as needed. The head restraint does not need to be removed.

4. Remove the fasteners (2) from the inflator module (1).
5. Note the routing of the inflator module wiring harness (4) and of the retaining clip attachments within the driver seat.
6. Remove the retaining clips on the inflator module wiring harness from the driver seat frame.
7. Gently pull the inflator module wiring harness (4) up into the seat back while guiding the harness through the wire triangle of the seat frame.
8. Remove the inflator module (1) from the driver seat back frame.
9. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required

retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the inflator module (1) to the driver seat back frame.
2. Install the inflator module fasteners (2).

Tighten the fasteners (2) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

NOTE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Gently pull the inflator module wiring harness (4) down into the seat cushion while guiding the harness through the wire triangle of the seat frame.
4. Install the wiring harness retaining clips to the seat frame.
5. Install the seat back cover.
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7.
