Power Steering Pump Replacement

Power Steering Pump Replacement (3.1L) 

Removal Procedure 

1. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir and move aside. 
2. Remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley. 
3. Remove the ignition control wiring harness near the power steering pump.
4. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump. 
5. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump. 

6. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
7. Remove the power steering pump.
8. Remove the power steering pump pulley from the power steering pump.  
9. Remove the power steering pump reservoir from the power steering pump. 

Installation Procedure 

1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump. 
2. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump.  
3. Position the power steering pump to the engine.

4. Notice:  

Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
Tighten the mounting bolts to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.).

5. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump. 
6. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump. 
7. Install the ignition control wiring harness to the power steering pump.
8. Install the accessory drive belt to the power steering pump pulley. 
9. Install the coolant recovery reservoir. 

10. Fill the power steering system with power steering fluid.  
11. Bleed the power steering system.  
12. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. 
13. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
