Some THM 440-T4 transaxles may exhibit a delayed 2-3 shift or loss of 3rd gear caused by a cut or damaged 3rd clutch inner seal. To repair this
condition, a new thicker 3rd clutch inner seal (item #635A - Figure 1) has been released. This change entered production after September 1, 1986 (Julian
Date 244) and is also incorporated in all Service Replacement Transaxle Assembly (SRTA) models, effective November 15, 1986 (Julian Date 319). To
repair models built prior to these dates, a service package (Part Number 8646991) has been released. This package contains:
