Cooling - Fan Runs Excessively, Noisy, Battery Drain
Bulletin 85-6B-6A Date Sept.. '85 Ref. No. 85-215A-6B
SUBJECT:
ENGINE COOLING FAN RUNS EXCESSIVELY
MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 CENTURY WITH 3.8L MFI ENGINE (VIN CODE 3)
NOTICE:
This bulletin supersedes 85-6B-6 dated August 1985 and DCS 85-21 dated 9/3/85 for correction of part number. Please discard original
bulletin and DCS and replace it with this one.
An owner may comment that the cooling fan runs excessively, is noisy, or of an excessive battery drain with key in the on position and car not running.
The engine cooling fan may also run on high speed continuously, starting approximately twenty (20) seconds after ignition is turned on and continuing to
run until approximately ten (10) minutes after the ignition is turned off, regardless of engine temperature.
If the above described condition is occurring, it may be caused by the engine cooling fan shutoff delay relay, part number 25519764. This relay is
located in the rearward position of the relay center on the left inner fender. Check the relay operation and replace if required.
