Hydraulic Assembly: Service and Repair
Hydraulic Unit
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Depressurize accumulator, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/DEPRESSURIZING HYDRAULIC ACCUMULATOR procedure.
3.
Disconnect all hydraulic unit electrical connectors, then remove all brake fluid from fluid reservoir.
4.
Remove pump attaching bolt, then position energy unit aside to gain access to brake pipes.
5.
Disconnect hydraulic lines to valve block.Use caution not to twist lines.
6.
On 6000 models, remove line attaching hydraulic unit to combination valve.
7.
On all models, disconnect push rod from brake pedal, then push dust boot forward, past hex on pushrod.
8.
Separate pushrod halves, then remove hydraulic unit to pushrod attaching bolts.
9.
Remove hydraulic unit from vehicle. Front half of pushrod will remain locked into hydraulic unit.
10.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque support bracket attaching bolts to 37 ft. lbs.
b. Bleed brakes, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING for procedure.
c. Reactivate Delco-Loc radios by turning ignition and radio to the On position, then pressing the Mute button on the steering wheel
control.
