Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
The ECM operates a normally closed canister purge solenoid valve to purge the fuel vapor canister. The ECM supplies a ground to energize the solenoid
(purge "ON"). The canister will not purge at idle or in open loop condition. The ECM will purge the canister when the engine is warm and after the
engine has been running a specific amount of time.
