Condition
Some customers may comment on a clicking/chirping noise coming from the engine cooling fan area.
Cause
The engine cooling fan shroud around either of the electric fans may be out of round creating contact.
Correction
1. Inspect the vehicle for the above condition by commanding the cooling fans ON with a scan tool. Determine if one or both of the fans are creating
any noise. If any chirping/clicking noise emanates from the cooling fan area, proceed with this bulletin.
2. Remove the cooling fan and shroud assembly. Refer to the Cooling Fan and Shroud Replacement procedure in SI.
3. Place the fan/shroud assembly on a workbench.
Note
The fan shroud will most likely be warped at the 12 o'clock position (1) as indicated in the above illustration.
4. Inspect the top of the shroud assembly for this condition. Then rotate the assembly so that the bottom is now positioned at the top and inspect it
again.
