Air Filter Element: Service and Repair
Air Cleaner Element Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air
Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair/Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement).
2. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) fresh air tube from the camshaft cover fitting (1).
3. Disconnect the PCV quick disconnect (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and
Air Induction/Fuel Line Coupler/Service and Repair/Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
4. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the mass airflow (MAF)/intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.
5. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamp (1) at the throttle body.
6. Loosen the 6 air cleaner housing cover screws (2).
7. Separate the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body.
