Symptoms - Cruise Control
Important: The following steps must be completed before using the symptom tables.
1. Before using the symptom diagnostic table, perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in order to verify the following conditions:

There are no DTCs set.

The module can communicate via the serial data link. See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Diagnostic
System Check - Vehicle
2. Review the system operation in order to understand the system functions. Refer to Cruise Control Description and Operation.
Visual/Physical Inspection
*
Inspect for aftermarket devices which can affect the operation of the cruise control system.
*
Inspect the accessible system components or the visible system components for obvious damage or for obvious conditions which can cause the
symptom.
Intermittent
Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in
Diagnostic Aids. See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Symptom List
Refer to Cruise Control Malfunction in order to diagnose the system.

Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) monitors the cruise control indicator switch. When the cruise on/off switch is pressed ON, the cruise control switch is
closed and the signal circuit is low. When the cruise on/off switch is pressed OFF, the cruise control switch is open and the signal circuit is high.
Circuit/System Testing
Important: Refer to DTC B3794 before performing this diagnostic, if this code is set as current or history. See: Powertrain

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X3 at the BCM.
2. Connect a fused jumper between the low reference terminal 22 and ground.
3. Ignition ON, cruise control switch ON, verify that the steering wheel control switch-left LED is illuminated.
‹› If the LED does not illuminate, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the steering wheel
controls switch-left.
4. If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
