Subject: Information on Revised Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement Procedure

2008-2009 Buick Enclave
2009 Chevrolet Traverse
2007-2009 GMC Acadia
2007-2009 Saturn OUTLOOK
All Equipped with Engine RPO LY7 or LLT

The following revised oil change procedure should be used by the dealership to prevent an oil leak after an oil change.

Removal Procedure

Warning

Refer to Hot Exhaust System Warning in the Preface section.

1. Place the drain pan under the oil filter. 
2. Loosen the oil filter. Allow the oil to drain completely. 
3. Wrap the oil filter in a disposable towel or a shop rag. Remove the oil filter; keep it upright until it is clear of the vehicle.
4. Thoroughly clean all oil spillage.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in SI.
