Water Pump Replacement

Water Pump Replacement (RPOs L26/L32) (3.8L)

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 Static Fill)   (See: Cooling System/Service and Repair)Cooling

2. Reposition the accessory wiring junction block.
3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
4. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26)   (See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and

Repair).

5. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
6. Remove the water pump pulley.
7. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts and reposition. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (L26)   (See: Steering and

Suspension/Steering/Power Steering/Power Steering Pump/Service and Repair)Power Steering Pump Replacement (LS4)   (See: Steering and
Suspension/Steering/Power Steering/Power Steering Pump/Service and Repair).

8. Remove the water pump bolts.

9. Remove the water pump.

10. Remove the water pump gasket.
11. Clean and inspect the water pump gasket mating surfaces.
