Heater Pipes Replacement (LS4)

Tools Required

J 38185 Spring Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine

Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and Repair).

2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 GE47716 Fill) (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling

System/Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 Static Fill) (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Service and
Repair).

3. Release and reposition the heater inlet and outlet hose clamps using the J 38185.

Important: Cap or plug the cooling components to prevent system contamination.

4. Remove the heater hoses from heater pipes.

Notice: Do not apply excessive force on the heater core pipes during hose removal. Applying excessive force on the heater core pipes may damage
the heater core pipes.

5. Remove the heater pipe assembly retaining bolts from the rear the of engine.
