The old design nut, Part Number 22527148, is silver in color and has a flange on the bottom side. The new design nut, Part Number 25526968, is gold in
color and does not have a flange (See Figure 2).
If a front strut module is repaired for any reason, the upper strut mount nut must be torqued to the proper value. The 1985 thru 1987 Service Information
Manuals improperly stated the torque for the strut mount nut. The non-flanged design nut should be torqued to 75 N-m (55 ft.lbs.). Proper torque on the
flanged design nut is 100 N-m (75 ft.lbs.).
