Tie Rod: Service and Repair
Rear Suspension

Fig. 5 Tie Rod/Adjustment Link Installation

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove wheel assembly, cotter key and castle nut, Fig. 5.

3.

Using tool J-24319-01, disconnect outer tie rod/adjustment from knuckle. When disconnecting the tie rod/adjustment from knuckle, do not
use a wedge since seal damage will occur.

4.

Remove rod/link assembly retaining nut and retainer.

5.

Remove rod/link assembly from lower control arm.

6.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque link retaining nut to specifications and castellated nut securing ball stud to 37 ft. lbs. Install cotter pin
retaining castellated nut, tightening nut as needed to insert pin through hole in stud. Do not loosen nut to align slots with hole.
