GAGING PROCEDURE
Gaging The Piston Rod
TOOL REQUIRED:

J 37839 Piston Rod Height Gage Gaging can be done without the booster being installed on the vehicle, if a suitable vacuum source is available.
MEASURE
1. Gage booster with 85 kpa (25 in. Hg.) of vacuum, or maximum engine vacuum available.
2. Position gage J 37839 over piston rod (12).

If piston rod length does not fall between the maximum and the minimum dimensions, use a service-adjustable piston rod to obtain the correct
length.
