Lamp Out Indicator: Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
Troubleshooting Hints
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS:
1. Check I/P Fuse Block IGN (RUN) AUTO A/C Fuse and BATT CHIME, RDO, CLSTR Fuse by visual inspection.
2. If the Driver Information Center (DIC) (Oldsmobile and Pontiac) or the lamp Monitor Display (Buick) displays a bulb outage, always refer to the
Lamp Monitor Bulb Table before proceeding with diagnosis.
3. Check that all bulbs sharing same circuit are the correct type and that connections in the bulb circuit are clean and tight.
4. If a single bulb outage is not displayed by Driver information Center (DIC) (Oldsmobile and Pontiac) or the Lamp Monitor Display (Buick), check
that open bulb and bulbs in parallel with open bulb are correct type.
5. Check that ground G105 is clean and tight.
6. Before component replacement, check for poor connections at related component and in-line harness connector terminal connections.
^
Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a
continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be
checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^
Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
