INOPERATIVE SPEEDOMETER DUE TO SPEEDO DRIVE GEAR TO DRIVEN GEAR SLIPPAGE
MODELS AFFECTED: 1984 REGAL, LESABRE AND ELECTRA WITH 200-4R TRANSMISSION
You may encounter a condition where the plastic speedometer driven gear sleeve contacted the teeth of the drive gear. Wear from this condition, may
result in gear tooth clearance between the gears, resulting in an inoperative speedometer.
The correction of this condition is to replace the plastic speedometer sleeve with a steel sleeve, part no. 25519848. Inspect the drive and driven gears for
any damage and replace if necessary.
